Coach
How
Can I benefit from Coaching?
Coaching
applies the best from psychology, business, philosophy, spirituality,
and finance to your benefit.
This is
done through scheduled conversations and accountability.
To ensure you get the
best for your money, your coach should be certified by a recognized
national or international organization (not just a school where
he or she took courses).
Certified coaches are
trained to guide you into recognizing distinct "gaps"
between where you are now and where you want to be. Then they
work with you to design and implement steps and solutions to arrive
at your destination. They are trained to assist you in identifying
what they call "AHA moments," where you realize something
you haven't seen before. These AHA moments are where you make
leaps forward in your progress. That is why you have quick results
with a trained coach.
Why
does coaching work?
Coaching works because of three unique features:
-
You
and your coach are a team, focusing on your goals and needs
to accomplish more than you would alone.
-
With
a coach, you take more action, think bigger and get the job
done.
-
A
coach knows how to help you make more money, make better decisions,
set the best goals, and restructure their professional and personal
lives for maximum productivity.
Who
works with a coach?
Anybody can grow with a coach. Anybody who recognizes an area
he or she wants to improve quickly. Your coach will guide you
to fix, solve, create, or plan something, personally or professionally.
What
is worked on?
Here are some areas you and I can work on together:
-
Balancing
your life
-
Reducing
stress
-
Turning
around a difficult situation
-
Making
key decisions and designing strategies
-
Prioritizing
actions and projects
-
Handling
personal or business problems
-
Planning,
budgeting, and goal setting
How
does a coach do this?
Coaching is delivered during regular, weekly sessions by telephone
or in person - whichever is more convenient. You bring an agenda
of items to the call or meeting. The coach helps you solve problems
and make the most of opportunities. When you are taking on a large
goal, your coach helps you design the project and provide the
support and structure needed to make sure it gets done. Your coach
brings out your best by offering advice, expecting a lot, helping
you strategize and celebrating your wins.
A practice can be national,
with clients in every area of the country, from big cities to
small towns.
What
should I look for in a coach?
The right coach brings out your best, consistently. To do this,
the coach you select should pass the following tests:
-
Is
this coach certified by a national or international organization
(not just the school where he or she took courses)? This means
that a professional coaching organization recognizes your coach
as having demonstrated his or her skills at a high performance
level. It guarantees that your coach has passed some stringent
criteria (professional coaching practicums, peer review, and
mentoring) in addition to courses and has successfully coached
many clients before you.
-
Does
this coach have a track record of helping someone like me accomplish
the goals I want?
-
Do
I feel good and motivated to act when with this coach?
-
Does
this coach specialize in the areas I need?
-
Will
this coach keep up with me-and stay ahead of me-as I grow?
That's it. You can
always check references and try out the coach for a month to see
if he or she is really the right one for you.
Is
what we talk about confidential?
YES. I do not discuss or hint at to anyone about what you are
doing, how you are doing, what you have accomplished, and your
personal secrets and confidences. If you were referred to me by
another person and that person asks how you are doing, my stock
answer is: He or she is doing just fine. Period.
